Working With Others.

David-daily

In my life, there have been two reliable reasons why I do most of my own work, alone. First, I’m often short of funds to have it done, so I do it myself, or do without. Second, on too many occasions, when working with others, they don’t come through with their part of the effort, which makes all of it a waste of my time.

This isn’t all the time, but on occasion, I come across people organizing for a cause, and just don’t do anything except talk about it. And the more they talk, the less they seem to do.

I am a doer, not a talker. I consider talking about doing, to be the death of doing. Its one thing to let folks know that you’re on to something, should they care to join in. It is another thing to organize to do a thing, and then just keep talking about doing it, but do nothing at all.

These seem to me, a subversion of my time, meant to waste my efforts and keep me from being productive in other things.

So what I do is give fair warning that we get stuff done, right away, or cancel. I’m not interested in persuading. If someone’s heart isn’t in the cause, that’s okay, just don’t say it is, when it is not. I get involved because I care, and I work on things to help, not to talk about helping.

Have you been involved in “organizations” that talk more than they do?

Thanks for the visit. Please share this if you like. See you next time!
